The Nevada Museum of Art has deep roots
when it comes to art and environment. Founded in 1931 by a small group of plein-air landscape painters, the Museum has always understood the importance of examining how humans interact with natural, built and virtual environments. With art collections ranging from Native American baskets and nineteenth century landscape paintings, to Altered Landscape photography and a burgeoning contemporary art collection, the Museum recognizes that what sets it apart from other institutions is this unique focus area. Beginning in 2009, the Museum decided to dedicate its curatorial, scholarly, and research endeavors to the study of art and environments.
The Museum provides guests of all ages
a variety of educational and social programs to enjoy. Join the Museum for an intimate discussion with visiting artists and specialists during an Art Bite, enjoy a summer evening with the Museum for its annual Taste For Art fundraiser or explore the exhibitions on display by participating in an opening lecture as visiting scholars provide in-depth information and visual cues to enjoy.
