THE ORCHESTRA

History
The Racine Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1932. Begun by Frederick Schulte, who served as conductor for many years, the orchestra has performed under the batons of Dudley Powers, Stephen Colburn, and David Becker, Alexander Platt, Richard Carsey, and Andrew Massey. RSO is currently led by Music Director Pasquale Laurino.

Mission Statement
The Racine Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to preserving our musical heritage by entertaining, educating and enriching audiences and musicians in our community.

Management
The Racine Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1932, incorporated in 1953, and is governed by a board of 25 directors who are elected to three-year terms.

Staff
The Racine Symphony has an Artistic Director, an Executive Director, a Pops Production Manager, a Patron Services Manger, a Bookkeeper, an Equipment Manager, an Orchestra Manager/Librarian, and over sixty musicians. The Symphony also relies on the support of volunteers and local community service organizations to help with ushering, educational outreach, special projects and participation on the Board of Directors and various committees.

Musicians
Musicians in the orchestra come from all walks of life and range in age from college students to retired people. Most musicians have extensive formal training in music and many of them are professionals in the music industry. Many live in Racine, others come from Kenosha, Milwaukee and Chicago. Some have played in the orchestra for twenty years or more.
