A. We specialize in Trane but have access to most major brands.
Air Conditioning Questions
Q. Is there a ban on Freon?
A. Freon is a misused term as it refers to a brand name of refrigerant, not a actual refrigerant. Currently refrigerant r-22 is the most common refrigerant used in air conditioning systems. Starting in January of 2010 manufactures will no longer be able to use r-22 in any newly manufactured Air Conditioning units. The new refrigerant that is replacing r-22 is ozone friendly r-410. We have been installing systems with r-410 for several years now, but will still have systems available in r-22 until the deadline.
Q. If r-410 if is currently available why would anyone install a system with the old refrigerant r-22?
A. Cost, r-410 systems cost more than r-22 systems to install. However each year as production ramps up the gap has gotten smaller. We expect that in 2008 that cost will be almost identical.
A. Yes there are several options for thoses who do not have a conventional duct system including the Unico Minature duct system and Ductless Mini Split Systems.
A. There are several factors that go into sizing your system including the square footage of your house, how much insulation you have, shading, how much glass you have, just to name a few. Only a qualified estimater can size your system for peak efficiency and proper operation.
