About Us

In 1979, Jerry McLauchlin formed FMC Construction.  For the next seven years Jerry acted as President of FMC and built the company into a successful general contracting firm building virtually every type of commercial construction project.

In 1986, the company had grown substantially and the name was changed to J. McLauchlin and Company to capitalize on Jerry’s many acquaintances throughout the Southeast.  Over the next few years J. McLauchlin and Company developed and constructed numerous facilities for the “local family doctor” to larger projects for Hospital Corporation of America.   

The company achieved significant growth in the late ninety’s with their ability to recruit highly qualified personnel, by keeping up with the latest technology, and with their uncompromising focus on quality.  Jerry McLauchlin is passionate about doing business in an honest and fair way.

What are the advantages to Design-Build?

Design-Build allows for considerable cost and time savings. Moreover design-build projects result in a higher quality and allows for more flexibility. This method minimizes the project risk for the owner and reduces the delivery schedule by overlapping the design, permitting and construction phase of a project. This is one of the oldest forms of construction, developed from the "Master Builder" approach.

Acquisition:  J. McLauchlin and Company and our team of licensed real estate professionals can help locate potential building sites, verify zoning requirements, concurrency and other site specific issues that lead to a successful site acquisition. J. McLauchlin and Company can also act as an agent of the client in the negotiations of the acquisition when desired.

Financing:  For thirty years J. McLauchlin and Company has partnered with several lenders and leading institutions to help clients with their financing needs. In some instances 100% financing can be obtained.

Design and Engineering:  J. McLauchlin and Company has worked with leading architects and consulting engineers to satisfy our clients.  Our team, including sister company Medical Design Group, has designed over 130 ambulatory surgery centers and hundreds of other medical offices, clinics, specialty facilities and other healthcare projects.  

Permitting:  From the beginning J. McLauchlin and Company will coordinate with the building department and other government agencies to obtain site approval, building permits and other jurisdictional requirements.

Construction:  A fair and honest way of doing business leads to successful construction projects.  J. McLauchlin and Company has spent thirty years building relationships with our clients. We strive to achieve satisfaction in the entire construction process as well as the final product. This philosophy has led to approximately 75% of our projects being from repeat clients or direct referrals.

Furnishing and Equipment:  J. McLauchlin and Company offers these services through consultants who have firsthand knowledge of the medical equipment and furnishing industries. Our consultants are trained in reimbursement rates, costs and have worked with owners and clients to achieve aesthetically pleasing and efficient buildings. 

Interior Design:  J. McLauchlin and Company utilizes several interior designers to achieve your project goals. Based on our initial meetings we will introduce our clients to designers who understand the requirements of healthcare and are able to meet your projects budget and design intent.  

Build to Suit with Lease or Purchase Option:  Beginning in 1988 J. McLauchlin and Company began building facilities for Hospital Corporation of America and has provided class A facilities for many other practitioners over the years. With predetermined buyout provisions and pricing we can provide a partnering relationship for new or existing facilities with our clients and owners.
