Helpful Wedding Invitation Tips

• Full names and titles should be used when addressing your invitations. Do not abbreviate.
  Doctor and Mrs. Robert Smith
  The Honorable Joseph Thompson
  Lieutenant Michael Carter
• Children over 18 get a separate invitation.
  Even if still living with their parents who are also invited to the wedding, these guests should be considered adults and receive their own invitation.
• It is recommended that you order approximately 10-20% more envelopes than you have invitations, since errors can occur when using calligraphy for addressing the envelopes.
  Example: If you are sending 100 invitations, order between 110-120 envelopes.
• Mail invitations 4-6 weeks prior to the wedding.
  This should give guests enough time to get a response back to you.  Additional time (6-8 weeks) should be given if there are out of town guests who will need to plan travel arrangements.  A “save the date” invitation
• Have a full invitation package weighed at the post office to ensure that you purchase the proper postage.
  Also be sure to weigh the reply envelope in its entirety so your guests don’t receive their response back as “return to sender” for insufficient postage.  Odd sized envelopes will require additional postage.
