Founded by Teresa Gordon along with Gale Green, Daily Harvest Bakery and Deli first opened its doors on April 6, 2004. Neither of the women had any entrepreneurial experience, specially in baking. In spite of the odds against them, Daily Harvest has been featured in Southern Living magazine, won the Northeast Louisiana Small Business Award in 2006, and was voted Best Bakery in Road Trip! Magazine.
Teresa started her journey in baking after raising her kids on hot dogs and TV dinners; she had never cooked much at all, much less made bread. One day, while trying to deal with her self-proclaimed empty nest syndrome, Teresa was flipping the channels and saw a story on the 700 Club about a woman in Atlanta, Georgia, who was grinding grain and making Ezekiel bread. This lady's story fascinated Teresa, so she decided to get grain and a small grain mill to make her own bread. Gale sampled the bread and called Teresa, trying to find out how to make it. After hearing Teresa’s story, Gale offered to help her. Gale and Teresa decided to open a bakery making the Ezekiel bread. What started as a scary dream became a successful, award-winning bakery and deli now with two locations and a bright future.
