The State Theatre FAQs

Where is the State Theatre located?
609 Congress Street in downtown Portland. Click here for directions.

How can I get tickets to a State Theatre show?
You can purchase tickets online by clicking the “tickets” icon on any show page on our site and will be taken to the Ticketmaster site. Purchase over the phone by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000.  Tickets to State Theatre shows are also sold in person only at the Cumberland County Civic Center box office free of service charges. If tickets do not sell out in advance, they will be sold at the door on the night of the show beginning one hour before doors open.  Cash and credit cards accepted.  Remember, we want you to come to our shows so if you have a problem purchasing tickets please call the box office at 207-956-6000 or Ticketmaster before throwing your laptop in the garbage.

If a show is cancelled, where do I get a refund?
If a show is cancelled, refunds are available at point of purchase. You will be refunded automatically if you purchased a ticket through Ticketmaster. Please note openers are always subject to change.

What are my payment options in the venue?
We accept most forms of payment. Cash is king, but we also accept American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover. We have an ATM on site. If tickets do not sell out in advance, they will be sold at the door on the night of the show beginning one hour before doors open.

How old do I have to be to get into the State Theatre?
The State Theatre is an all-ages venue.  You must present a government issued I.D. if you are 21+ and plan on drinking alcohol. Security is present at every show to verify your age.

Does the State Theatre have seats?
Yes.  There are permanent seats in the back of the venue and in the balcony.  We don’t like to brag, but they are real purty.  These seats are on a first-come-first-sit basis for General Admission shows.  The State Theatre is fully seated up to the stage for reserved seated shows.

Do I need to bring ID?
If your tickets are at will call, of course you do! If you are 21+ and plan on drinking alcohol, of course you do!  Government issued photo ID is required.

What kind of drinks do you have?
We have a full bar in each venue, with plenty of H20 and soft drinks along with a wide selection of both tap and bottle beers, wine and spirits to cure what ales you.

Do you serve food at the State?
Yep. We serve some kick-ass hot dogs with different toppings, french bread pizzas and pretzel bites with your choice of dipping sauce.  Seriously!  Dipping sauce for your pretzel bites!  Does life get any better?  We don’t think so.

I have a blog.  Do I count as Press?
Maybe. But all press inquiries should be directed to the band’s publicist, label or management.

Can I bring my camera?
Photo policy varies for different artists and is usually not determined until day of show. You can bring a non-professional camera to most shows and inquire about the photo policy at the door or call 207-956-6000 on the day of show.

Do you have a Coat Check?
Yes, it’s located upstairs.  Check it out.  Get it?  Writing a FAQ is fun.

Can I smoke at the State Theatre?
No.  No.  No.  Did we say no?  Because we meant NO.   Per Maine state law, there is a strict no-smoking policy at the State Theatre.   Unfortunately at this time we also have a NO RE-ENTRY policy until we can figure out where to put you smokers on the outside.  Please don’t yell at the security guards when they tell you that you can’t leave and come back in.   And remember, smoking kills. If you’re killed, you’ve lost a very important part of your life.

Is there re-entry?
No re-entry.

Where do I park?
There is no designated parking at the State Theatre.   There is ample street parking in the neighborhood around the venue.   There is a parking garage across the street on High Street next to the Eastland Park Hotel.  Sorry, no helicopter pad.

Do you rent the State Theatre for private events?
Mi casa es su casa. We like to party. Please send all inquires to info@statetheatreportland.com
