Once you and Dr. Yu decide which model is right for you, getting your own Under Armour Performance Mouthwear™ is a simple 3-step process. First, Dr. Yu will take your bite impressions. Next, the impressions are shipped to Under Armour's lab where we custom make the product. Third, the completed mouthwear is shipped back to Dr. Yu for a final fitting.

Appliances for Sleep Apnea

TAP®
The TAP® device provides a powerful prescription for snoring and sleep apnea. Based on the same principle as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the TAP was designed to keep the airway of the throat open to allow for air to pass. A constricted or collapsed airway causes snoring or sleep apnea.

Both the TAP I® and TAP III TL® holds the lower jaw in a forward position, maintaining a clear airway to reduce snoring and improve breathing. When the jaw opens and the tongue falls into the back of the throat, the airway narrows forcing air through the small opening. This creates a vibration known as snoring. Although snoring seems physically harmless, it can be a "red flag" for a serious condition called obstructive sleep apnea.

 

Myerson™ EMA®
The Myerson EMA (Elastic Mandibular Advancement) custom appliance is a removable intra-oral appliance created for noninvasive treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The appliance is designed to both advance the mandible and open the bite to allow for less restricted airflow during sleep.

EMA devices help promote a deeper, more restful sleep by preventing snoring and relieving the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The EMA does not interfere with breathing through the mouth, even in cases of congested nasal passages. The EMA has many options for advancement with five strap lengths and four different elastic tension options. Non-restricted lateral/protrusive movement and improved movements of the jaw are possible while wearing the device due to varying elastic bands.
