Founded in 1961 by metalsmith Otto F. Dingeldein to encourage artistic awareness, participation, and expression, the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri hopes to stimulate the exchange of new ideas and build a shared sense of community by showcasing the arts.  

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is the oldest arts council inMissouri, located in the historic district of downtown Cape Girardeau, one block from the Mississippi River.  

Arts Council headquarters, located at 32 N. Main Street, features three distinct visual arts galleries.
