In the early 1980s Penny Haley introduced her original calzones at the Eastern States Exposition (The Big E). This is the largest fair in the Northeastern United States, attracting over one million people every September.

Noting the popularity and demand for her product, Penny with her son Dan (hence D.P.) opened the first D.P. Dough Restaurant in 1987 in Amherst, MA.

Today, with our systems and procedures perfected, all D.P. Dough stores offer a wide variety of calzones.

Voted "Best Late Night Food" three years running, by the Daily Vidette, this locally owned and operated restaurant is a staple for locals and college students alike, D.P.
