Care
Dentistry is no longer about having teeth fixed. It is about taking care of our bodies, maintaining or improving function, and presenting our most confident self. Dentistry is equal parts art, science and psychology. It encompasses education, prevention and care. Mostly though, dentistry is about building realtionships and earning trust.
Confidence
In my opinion confidence in a professional is earned. Confidence is founded in integrity. I treat every tooth, every person as though it were my sister, my friend, my dad….. What are the treatment options available? …. What are the relative costs/benefits? …. What would I do in this particular situation? …. My job is to diagnose, educate and inform….. Beyond that, the treatment decisions are yours. I never consider myself a saleman, but an instead, an educator. This is the foundation of my practice and how I build relationships with my patients based on integrity and trust.
Craftsmanship
“When a work lifts your spirits and inspires bold and noble thoughts in you, do not look for any other standard to judge by: the work is good, the product of a master craftsman.” – Jean de la Bruyere
I admire craftsmen and work very hard to consider myself a craftsman in my profession. I believe craftsmanship requires mastry of ones chosen materials and armamentarium. I have been actively involved the last several years in the Seattle Study Club which emphasizes diagnostic skills and technical excellence. I consider every appointment an opportunity to showcase my skills and to provide a lasting, comfortable, beautiful, functional service.
