THE FOX THEATER
The Fox Theatre is located in the center of downtown Visalia and is considered one of Visalia's most treasured and historic cultural landmarks.
Built in 1930, the Fox Theater was a constructe by the Fox West Coast Theater company as was consiered a smaller version of its more grandiose theater cousins in other california cities like Los Angeles. The Fox Theater was home to a variety of entertainment acts over the years including and residents have enjoyed watching singers, dancers, roller skaters, impressionists, comedians, magicians, hypnotists, and both amateur and professional concerts. At one time, the Visalia Fox Theater held three movie theaters and in all it continued to show movies for over 66 years. In 1997, the Fox Theater closed its doors, and shortly thereafter, the 'Friends of the Fox' non-profit organization formed and soon took over the theater. They have since renovated the spectacular and uniquely styled theater and raised money for its rebirth as a community and performing arts center. The Fox Theater is once again hosting a regular schedule of events and concerts for local residents. It is also currently home to the Tulare County Symphony. View our SCHEDULE OF EVENTS here.
