Yogaworks believes Yoga is for Everyone!
History
Our founders, Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller and Alan Finger were all serious and highly accomplished yoga practioners who wanted to share the gifts they learned from their own wise teachers. When they opened our first Montana Avenue school back in 1987, they gathered together many styles of yoga under one roof, attracting the best teaching talent in Southern California. They sought to uphold the 5,000-year-old tradition of yoga by infusing their programs with integrity, quality, authenticity, and a warm welcome to every student. In 1990, when the demand for well-trained yoga teachers began to grow in the U.S., Maty, with the help and inspiration of senior teachers Chuck Miller and Lisa Walford, created the highly renowned YogaWorks Teacher Training Program. Based on direct teachings from Indian yoga masters, this program has formed and guided leading teachers across the world including Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, Baron Baptiste, Vinnie Marino, Saul David Raye and more.
Our Mission
At YogaWorks, we believe Yoga is for everyone. It is our mission to honor and embrace each student’s search for personal growth, wellbeing, and fulfillment by offering the highest quality yoga programs to people of all ages and from all walks of life.We do this with love, compassion, a sense of humor, and with respect for what each individual can accomplish through Yoga and throughout their lives.
Our Yoga
Although we embrace a diverse array of yoga styles, one consistent theme threads through every class we offer – an excellence in teaching that has made us the gold standard of yoga schools. All of our teachers have minimum 500 hours of YogaAlliance certification, and many of our senior teachers have been doing their thing for 20 years or more.
Our signature YogaWorks style classes are a blend of teachings from the classical Ashtanga and Iyengar traditions with an emphasis on thoughtful sequencing. Our yoga is also practical and geared addressing modern issues like releasing neck pain from computer usage and neutralizing the stress of a hectically paced day.
